SUGGESTIONS FROM PREVIOUS EXPERIENCES
Be self-sufficient. Assume you’ll get lost or split up from the group overnight.
Brings spare keys and give them to another rider.
Carry twice as much water as you’ll think you’ll need and a filter kit. You can go for days without food, but not water.
Test ride and test use everything.
Those spare parts kits for your exact bike are a lifesaver on the trail.
Be ready to eat a shit-ton of dust. Plan accordingly.
Hope for sun, plan for rain.
Nights get cold AF on this route when camping.
Bring a spare clutch lever and shifter. My shifter nearly fell off on a Arizona desert trip–lost the bolt. My spare parts kit saved me.
Purchase helicopter rescue insurance — WHY
Don’t mount your daily phone on your bars–it’ll vibrate itself to death. Carry it in your backpack.
Bring latex gloves for cold mornings if you don’t have heated grips.
12-volt accessory plugs are a must-have.
Ultralight camping chairs are a luxury on moto-trips.
Everyone overpacks.
